After months of planning and prep work, Surtex is over for another year. We got off to a bit of a rocky start in New York when the airline misplaced our luggage with our show material. But it all worked out, thankfully!

We did things a little differently this year and opted for a corner booth. We love how it turned out and the feedback was positive. Our name still puts a smiles on people’s faces, which puts a smile on ours. Even the press paid us a couple of visits!

We also showcased the work of two very talented artists, Katy Dockrill and Aaron Leighton, whom Sorry You’re Happy represents for art licensing. All the new collections we presented were well-received, from the Marine Munchkins to the Breakfast Bunch to the Layered Lovelies. Each of the new collections will be added to our site soon for your viewing pleasure.

To present the new work, we showed one printed book this year and an iPad. People still seemed to prefer the book, which was surprising but made the effort worth it on our part.

Below are some shots of our booth mock up and set up. We played around with the panels during the final set up on Friday and Saturday. It was satisfying to see it all come together.

Overall, the energy of the show was great. More booths, more people, more activity in general, though we all could have done without the indoor rain on Monday! The quality of the artwork gets better every year and we’re sure the manufacturers took note.

We had a fantastic time meeting with clients, making new friends and reconnecting with old ones. We love being a part of this community!

Below is a parting shot of us outside Javits. Now back to the follow ups!
